The particpation of the tenth edition of the “interzum award: intelligent material & design 2019“, the competition organized by Koelnmesse in collaboration with Red Dot and reserved exclusively for interzum exhibitors, has opened recently.
Interzum, the international exhibition of supplies, components and semi-finished products for the furniture industry, which this year celebrates its 60th anniversary, will take place in Cologne from 21 to 24 May 2019. The event will be attended by more than 1,800 exhibitors from all the world that will propose to a public of highly qualified operators their innovations, source of inspiration for the design of the living spaces of tomorrow.
How to participate in the interzum award
These very prestigious awards, the interzum awards, recognize the best products of the international furniture supply industry that stand out for their degree of innovation, functionality, quality of materials, design and sustainability.
The “High Product Quality“ award is awarded to design projects that stand out for their form and function and which differ from other similar products for their excellent design.
The “Best of the Best“ award is awarded to those products that represent technological development and design combined with functionality.
Exhibitors wishing to participate in the interzum awards must register their products by March 8, 2019 at www.interzum-award.de
The categories for which the products can be registered are different and include “Materials and surfaces“, “Components, glass and lighting systems“, “Materials for padding and mattresses“, and materials and machines for mobile spaces “Mobile Spaces“; this year, for the first time, the “Tiny Spaces“ category is also added: materials and components that can best respond to solving small spaces.
The jury of the competition
The prizes are awarded by an international jury of six independent experts from the world of design and architecture. This year's international jury is composed by the Dutch designer Dick Spierenburgg, by Professor Danny Venlet, Belgian designer and professor at the Royal College of Arts in Ghent, by Professor Martin Stosch, Professor of wood technology at the University of Applied Sciences Ostwestfalen -Lippe, by the designer Winfried Weber, by Professor Martin Beeh, material expert and university professor in design management, and by Professor Peter Zec, founder and CEO of the Red Dot Awards. The jury will award the “High Product Quality“ and “Best of the Best“ awards in the various categories.
The awarded products will be exhibited to the public during interzum in a special installation on the main boulevard of the event and will also be available online on the interzum award website. The 2017 awards ceremony will take place on May 20, the opening day of interzum 2019.
