The splendid Terrazza della Triennale di Milano hosted the final of the IDEASxWOOD 2020 International Contest, the most important competition in the world in the wood sector, promoted by Tabu and sponsored by ADI, FederlegnoArredo and FSC® Italia. The Contest, which is an international competition of ideas aimed at both university students and designers under 40, this year saw the participation of 462 projects, 38 of which were winners, among young professionals and students.
The winners of the IDEASxWOOD 2020 Contest
The jury, presided over by architect Franco Raggi and made up of leading design and architecture professionals, proclaimed the winners of the IDEASxWOOD Contest and the Carpanelli Award, interior design workshop, the main partner of the Contest, which celebrated its 100th anniversary in the final.
For the Professionals category it won the 1st PIXEL prize by Mattia Fornari from Piacenza (in the opening photo), followed by PRIVÉE by Annamaria Seminara and Maria Francesca Cicirielli from Como and MUGR by Vittorio Pannozzo from Fondi (LT).
For the Student category the 1st Prize went to SYSMA by Stefano Bertolini of the Brera Academy of Fine Arts, the second to BREEZE by Ezgi Vural of the Marangoni Institute in Milan and the third to LONDON FOG by Aigherim Urazbayeva of the Milan Polytechnic.
The First Carpanelli prize for the Professionals category was awarded to DOLFIN by Geovanny Fernando Carignani and Luca Cotini of Milan, the second to LE VELASCHE by Ekaterina Shchetina of Milan and the third to FLAVIO by Nicola D'Apollo of Carbonate (CO).
The 1st Carpanelli prize in the Student Category was won by LIBRERIA GAE by Benedetta Pintus, Natalia Giribaldi and Ottavia Scarabelli of Politecnico di Milano; the 2nd by PORTABOTTIGLIE SKY WINE by Federica Parini of Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera and finally LO STORTO by Sofia Favola Ruffinoni of Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera was added to the 3rd Carpanelli prize.
The IDEASxWOOD Contest
The objective of IDEASXWOOD is to support the knowledge of wood and its valorisation as a noble, living and renewable raw material.
Tabu, Italian excellence in wood dyeing, produces dyed natural veneers and multilaminar veneers for furniture and interior architecture, as well as decorative wood surfaces of the latest generation, based on technological research and the ability to interpret wood with inexhaustible creativity.
The announcement of the third edition of the IDEASXWOOD Contest will be online from 20th October.
