The second edition of the Ideasxwood Design Contest has started. Ideasxwood is the most important competition in the world in the wood sector, promoted by Tabu, a company considered to be the Italian excellence in wood dyeing. Under the patronage of ADI, FederlegnoArredo and FSC®Italia, Ideasxwood is an annual and international ideas competition open to university students and designers under 39.
The aim is to make wood known and to enhance it as a noble, living and renewable raw material as it can be cultivated and planned in its availability on a global scale for future generations.

Design Contest Ideasxwood 2019/2020
The Competition provides for the design of geometric, organic or combined drawings aimed at the following methods:
- the production of multilaminar veneers in the size 650 x 3060 mm;
- the creation of industrial inlays (Graffiti by Tabu Collection) both on dyed natural veneers and on multilaminar veneers - or those that can be freely combined - for the production of panels measuring 1260 x 3060 mm;
- the development of three-dimensional surfaces (Groovy by Tabu Collection) made with the technique of embossing or bas-relief for the production of panels size 1260 x 3060 mm;
- the development of the latest generation of wood panelling surfaces (Skeens by Tabu Collection) in sheets measuring 620 x 3000 mm.
The solutions presented, after registration of a personal page in the reserved area of the website www.ideasxwood.it, must be received electronically by Thursday 30.04.2020, must be original and unpublished and aimed at enhancing the workings of the company.
The award ceremony will be held in Milan on Thursday 28 May 2020.
The Jury will be chaired by architect Franco Raggi and will be composed of architects, journalists and representatives of the Associations of the wood-furniture sector.
As for the prizes, a first prize of 5000 euros will be awarded to the Professionals Category and a first prize of 5000 euros to the Students Category. There will also be special prizes from the Partners of the event.

Carpanelli 100 Years Award dedicated to the theme “Italian Journey“.
As part of the Ideasxwood 2019/2020 competition, Carpanelli, a historic company dedicated to artistic woodworking and high-level cabinet-making, is promoting the “Carpanelli 100 Anni“ Award dedicated to the theme “Italian Journey“ to celebrate its 100 years of activity.
The competition requires the design of furnishing objects able to express Italian creativity, enhancing the wood in its most valuable essences as a material protagonist combined with other materials that express a contemporary concept of preciousness, or can evoke inlaid decoration in the beauty of Italian Art and Architecture from its origins to the present day.
Participation in this Award follows the same procedures as the Contest Tabu: two categories (Professionals Under 39 and Students), application form always on the site www.ideasxwood.it
under the heading Carpanelli Prize 100 Years, telematic submission of entries by Thursday 30.04.2020.
The Jury of the Carpanelli 100 Anni Prize will be chaired by Architect Franco Raggi and composed of experts in the wood-furniture sector. The award ceremony will be held in Milan on Thursday 28 May 2020.
Also in this case there will be two Prizes: 1st Prize for the Professionals Category of Euro 3000 and 1st Prize for the Students Category of Euro 2000.
The company reserves the right to carry out the projects of the competition and possibly present them at the Salone del Mobile the following year.
