Tabu, Italian excellence in the dyeing of wood, produces natural dyed and multilaminar veneers for interior decoration and architecture, as well as collections of decorative wooden surfaces based on dyeing technology and an intense research activity on materials and production processes.
The company from Cantù (CO) has always looked with great interest to the world of young people and of design convinced in the importance of involving new recruits to create innovative products and develop cutting-edge ideas.
For the first time in its long history, over 90 years of activity, Tabu launches a Contest, IDEASXWOOD, a contest of ideas aimed at both university students and Under-40 designers.
IDEASXWOOD is the most important contest in the world for the wood sector and is sponsored by ADI, FederlegnoArredo and FSC® Italia. It is annual and international.

The call of IDEASXWOOD

The first IDEASXWOOD Design Contest 2018/2019 is aimed at the design of:
• geometric, organic or combined designs aimed at the realization of:

1. multilaminar veneers, size 650x3060 mm;
2. industrial inlays (for example the Graffiti Collection by Tabu) both on dyed natural veneers and on multilaminar veneers - or freely combinable - for the production of 1260x3060 mm panels;
3. three-dimensional surfaces (eg Groovy by Tabu Collection) made with the technique of embossing or bas-relief for the production of 1260x3060 mm panel

Participation as an individual or in a group is allowed.
The projects must be uploaded online in the relevant section of the site www.ideasxwood.it by and no later than 04/15/2019.
The announcement of the winner of each category will take place on 8 May 2019 at the Triennale in Milan.

The IDEASXWOOD awards

At the 1st place of each category, students and professionals, the opportunity will be offered to participate in a workshop of an indicative duration of one week, with travel and accommodation paid for by the company, at a prestigious design studio based in the USA or in Asia.
The winner can convert the prize with a cash prize of € 5,000.00 net.
Honorable mentions are also provided, in particular the mention of FSC® and the possibility of signing a separate contract with Tabu, if one's own decorum is made and included in the company's Collections.
