Materially will propose three material contexts, three different projects, three distinct but complementary points of view, aimed at providing a new perspective on the theme of material innovation: Wonder Matter(s) at Superstudio Più, Vivarium at the Brera Academy and Material-Minded Design at the Triennale.
Wonder Matter(s) at Superstudio Più
From 17 to 23 April, Materially is present in the spaces of Superstudio Più with Wonder Matter(s), an exhibition that addresses the concept of wonder through a sensorial, exploratory and narrative journey among materials with the most diverse compositions and applications.
Leading companies in the field of material innovation present flagship products and novelties united by functional, aesthetic and sustainable performance.
The theme of wonder provides energy to the search for material solutions capable of exciting and convincing. A sensorial blink that Materially stages using the metaphor and model of the Manufacture Playground, for the construction of an iconic landscape, recognisable and all to be explored, in which concrete material innovations become tools for play and discovery.
Wonder Matter(s) will also host a conference dedicated to the state of the art in the polymer industry.
Vivarium at the Brera Academy
From 18 to 23 April in the corridors and classrooms of the Brera Academy, Vivarium brings research and applications of bio-based materials to the public of Milan Design Week, emphasising the educational potential of materials rooted in history and projected into the future. The project extends beyond the spatial and temporal limits of the exhibition to offer panel talks with the protagonists of materials research open to the public, workshops and educational collaborations for the students of the Academy.
Material-Minded Design in Triennale
In the Agora of the Triennale, on 20 April at 11 a.m. Materially and Material Connexion will bring together their long common history in a lecture dedicated to the interconnections between materials, trends and design entitled 'Material-Minded Design: the Intersection of Trend, Sustainability and the Materials We Use'. In particular, the lecture will focus on how materials can provide concrete answers through trends and design directions, while respecting all-round sustainability criteria.
