The focus of the contest is the use of the ultra-compact surface Dekton®; the participants are asked to conceive a project of furnishing accessories using Dekton®, the innovative surface created by Cosentino. Born from a mixture of glass, porcelain materials and quartz, the Dekton® surface is characterized by a high mechanical resistance to chemical agents, ultraviolet rays and extreme temperatures, and by the very low absorption of liquids, technical features that make it suitable for many applications.
Let's Design: contest rules
The designers and interior architects who wish to participate in the contest will have to propose unconventional solutions for the realization of objects to be inserted in four domestic environments: the kitchen, the bathroom, the living area and the outdoors.
To register for the contest, you must fill out the application form by January 25, 2022 (available at this link: http://designopenspaces.eu/lets-design/), selecting from the proposed environments the area of interest for the development of your project; you must also attach a portfolio that attests to the experience in the field of design and architecture.
The candidates will be selected by Luca Fois, Creative Advisor and teacher at the School of Design of the Polytechnic of Milan in the course "Design degli Eventi", appointed as a super partes judge by the Spanish company that will select among the participants the most deserving and interesting profiles that will access the second phase of the competition.
Between January 10 and February 15, 2022, the selected designers will be involved in a meeting with Cosentino representatives at one of the Italian offices of the Group to learn in depth the technical characteristics and technological potential of the Dekton® surface and define the environment to which they should be inspired for the realization of their work. The professionals, in addition to discovering the characteristics of the innovative material Dekton®, will have the opportunity, thanks to their participation in the contest, to be known by Cosentino and the world of design and architecture thanks to the communication activities on social networks and Italian media planned by the Group to support the initiative.
The project must be delivered by March 7, 2022 online and anonymously, using a code assigned to all participants.
Let's Design: the contest jury
A jury made up of experts and qualified representatives of the academic and design world composed, in addition to Luca Fois, also by Antonio Morlacchi, Director of IoArch, bimonthly magazine of architecture, Loredana Mascheroni, Chief Editor of Domus, Carlotta Marelli, Deputy Digital Managing Editor of Elledecor.it, and Roberto Franceschin, Country Manager Italy, Switzerland and Slovenia for Cosentino, will evaluate the selected proposals.
During Milan Design Week (April 4-10, 2022), during an event organized at Cosentino City Milano in Piazza Fontana 6, the contest jury will proclaim 3 finalists for each category, for a total of 12 projects that will come to life thanks to augmented reality. Through a voting system both online and on paper, the projects will also be voted by a popular jury composed of all those who will visit the Cosentino showroom during the Fuorisalone. To these, will be added also the vote of Joe Bastianich, testimonial of the brand in Italy for 2022. In the end, a single winner will be nominated for each category.
The final announcement will be made in autumn 2022, again at the Cosentino showroom, where the winners of the contest will see the prototypes of their works made of Dekton®, works that will remain on display throughout the year inside the showroom.
