On 28 February, the Sala Buzzati at the Corriere della Sera hosted the press conference for the presentation of Fuorisalone 2024, which from 15 to 21 April will once again make Milan the protagonist of the international design scene with a full calendar of events, exhibitions and installations that will involve designers, architects, professionals, students, universities, enthusiasts and even the simply curious.
Since 2003, Fuorisalone.it has in fact been the reference platform for the events taking place in the city during Milan Design Week, offering indispensable tools for the public and useful solutions for companies and professionals.
"Materia Natura": the theme of the 2024 edition of Fuorisalone
The theme of the 2024 edition of Fuorisalone is "Materia Natura", with the aim of highlighting sustainability as a guiding principle and fundamental virtue in the creative and design process.
The theme invites an in-depth exploration of the connection between these two words, promoted through a visual campaign curated by Nicola Ricciardi and conceived by EX. (Andrea Cassi, Michele Versaci) and Giorgio Ferrero (MYBOSSWAS), who created POV, a photographic and audiovisual work composed of five different scenarios investigating the fragile relationship between man and the environment.

"The Fuorisalone represents a free moment of expression and confrontation that fuels a critical debate on the role of design in all its expressions and that today sees nature as the most important form of inspiration, which we must all take care of. This is the motivation behind the choice of our theme, where by subject we mean knowledge, culture and expertise, by nature we think of space, time and resources. It is essential to unite these two dimensions in order to design our present and secure our future,' says Paolo Casati, Co-founder and Creative Director of Studiolabo.
Fuorisalone 2024: Districts and Zones
Once again this year there will be a rich calendar of events in the various districts that make up Milano DesignWeek: Brera Design District, Zona Tortona, 5VIE, Milano Durini Design, Isola Design District.
Brera Design District, now in its 15th edition, confirms itself as the reference point of the Fuorisalone by offering over 260 events in the district and 196 permanent showrooms.

The 2024 corporate image has been entrusted to Studio Ianus, a company that was born from the encounter of two visions, illustration and animation, skilfully used to narrate the district. This collaboration inaugurates a new language for the district, anticipating the publication of a free press magazine to be distributed from the summer of 2024.
Zona Tortona returns with a brand new look and a communication proposal aimed at bringing together and narrating the different realities that animate it: Tortona Rocks, Tortona Design Week, Superstudio and BASE. At the centre of the events are topical issues seen through the lens of design, with the aim of responding to the challenges of tomorrow.

5VIE with the new edition "Unlimited Design Orchestra" re-proposes and amplifies the theme of the last edition "Design for Good", i.e. that of design intended as a tool to create and cultivate deep "human vibrations", in the perspective of a sustainability rooted in collaboration and sharing as it happens for the elements of an orchestra.
Milano Durini Design addresses the theme of COLOUR understood as design, emotion, life and an essential element of everyday life and the most exclusive lifestyles. Colour will be the unifying theme of the district and will be declined through a path of urban planning and diffuse, colourful elements to create a visual thread that brings value and identity to the district.

Isola Design District presents a journey through the sustainability and functionality of design, showing its potential to address real issues by anticipating the future of the industry.
Isola expands into new areas: Lampo Milano, WAO PL7 and Galleria Bonelli. Five group exhibitions and numerous guest installations will highlight circular design, new materials and craftsmanship.
Third edition of Fuorisalone Award
Back for the third time is the Fuorisalone Award, a recognition that rewards the most interesting contents and installations presented during the Milan Design Week. A project curated by Studiolabo, the Fuorisalone Award rewards the best creativity and most impactful ideas from Italian and international companies and designers. "The Fuorisalone Award reaffirms its commitment to recognising and historicising the most significant projects in the Milan Design Week panorama," says Cristian Confalonieri, Co-founder of Studiolabo.
e.Reporter: documenting Milan Design Week
The appointment with the e.Reporter, a project born in 2003 dedicated to design, architecture and visual arts students with a particular passion for photography and audio-visual content, is back. The intention has always been to narrate the Fuorisalone through the eyes of an attentive community representing the designers of tomorrow. Through the partnership with the most important design schools in Milan, over the years more than 190 thousand shots have been produced that have become the event's historical and collective archive.
Collaborations with miart and Salone del Mobile.Milano
With this edition of Fuorisalone 2024, an exceptional collaboration is born, that with miart, Milan's international modern and contemporary art fair, to promote an ever closer relationship between art and design, with the aim of offering the vast Fuorisalone audience quality content, useful for discovering the city from different points of view.
In fact, there are many contents born in the context of miart and conceived to cross over into the Milan Design Week, just as there are many Fuorisalone events where art is the protagonist.
The collaboration with Salone del Mobile.Milano also continues for the second year running, in order to highlight the exhibitors present both in the spaces of the fair and in the city, according to a dedicated itinerary to be found in the events guide and on the Fuorisalone.it interactive map, indicating the position of the stands in the various pavilions and the location of the event in the city, designed to orientate the public towards a selection of events organised by the most important brands in the design and furnishing sector.
