1125 events in the Guide with 838 connected brands, an online audience of 630,000 users, up 23% compared to 2023, from 162 different countries: these are the numbers of the 2024 edition of the Fuorisalone, which confirms itself as the most important appointment of the year in the international design calendar. This year's was an unprecedented edition that saw an exceptional turnout of visitors from all over the world, consolidating Milan's role as a nerve centre for meeting, updating and business for all operators in the sector, as well as for enthusiasts and students.
According to Confcommercio estimates, Milan Design Week generated an induced revenue of 260 million 800 thousand euros, + 13.7% compared to last year. Fuorisalone.it's induced revenue was + 20% compared to the 2023 edition, with the web platform recording a brand presence with Italy in first place, followed by Germany, France and Switzerland.
Fuorisalone 2024: events throughout the city
Once again this year, Fuorisalone animated some of the city's lesser-known corners and led to the discovery of new ones: the former railway yards, from Via Farini with the Isola Design Festival to Stazione Centrale with the Dropcity project, the industrial spaces in Via Fantoli with Baranzate Ateliers or the spaces of the former Labò pharmaceutical laboratories up to Villa Bagatti Valsecchi and Villa Borsani in Varedo, the protagonists of this edition of Alcova. The public was also able to enter Milan's most beautiful historical palaces, venues for extremely evocative events and installations: Palazzo Bovara, Palazzo Litta, Palazzo Reale, Palazzo Isimbardi, Palazzo Turati, Palazzo Bagatti Valsecchi, Palazzo Clerici, Palazzo San Fedele, Palazzo Cusani and the Circolo Filologico Milanese.
The 'Materia Natura' theme at the centre of many events
This edition also confirmed the role of design in disseminating to the general public new languages and visions for tomorrow's relationship with the planet: the Fuorisalone 2024 theme 'Materia Natura' was indeed at the centre of many events in the city. From big brands to more independent initiatives, many designers and companies focused on research in the field of sustainability, accompanying improvements in processes and production with new materials and the possibilities offered by recycling and reuse.
Not only that, designers, universities, curators, artists and companies also brought a rich array of new visions and languages to the city: the great protagonist was once again the rethinking of the relationship with the home, explored in events such as La Casa Dentro by ICA, La Casa Ovunque, IKEA 1st (First), the Glitch Camp by IED, the Runaways inhabitable exhibition by DOPO?, the rooftop camping by BASE, the Foresteria by C41.

Paolo Casati, co-founder of Studiolabo, the organiser of Fuorisalone, said: "Last year's trend is reconfirmed: in this 2024 the companies have continued to choose exhibition and event modes that enhance the dimensions of storytelling and dialogue, in a fundamental moment of synthesis that is the presentation of their research to the public during Design Week".
Fuorisalone Award 2024
There was also success for the Fuorisalone Award, now in its third edition, a recognition that rewarded the most distinctive contents and installations on show in Milan from 15 to 21 April and won this year by the Czech brand Lasvit with Re/Creation, the monumental fused glass installation designed by art director Maxim Velcovsky at Palazzo Isimbardi.
Increasingly coveted by companies and designers, the Fuorisalone Award project was confirmed to be dynamic and innovative, oriented towards creativity and the desire to bring ideas capable of temporarily transforming the face and atmosphere of Milan.

Brera Design District: the most loved and visited district
Brera once again confirms itself as the district par excellence of the design sector, the most visited and appreciated by professionals and design enthusiasts and the most requested by companies, with more than 280 events in historical buildings, unexpected locations and permanent showrooms. This is confirmed by a 60% increase in users of the website dedicated to Brera Design Week.
There were 228 events taking part in the Brera Design Week 2024 circuit (+8% compared to 2023) involving more than 500 companies, designers and 124 permanent showrooms involved in the official circuit out of the 197 present in the district, reconfirming Brera as the most important stage for design on an international level.
Among private residences, courtyards and secret gardens, Brera revealed its most evocative spaces to the city. Among the special places made visitable during the Brera Design Week were the Sala dei Pilastri of the Castello Sforzesco, the Mediateca Santa Teresa, and the Church of Santa Maria degli Angeli.

The stars of this edition were the glo for art installation, Interni with ENI at the Orto Botanico, Stark with Transitions at Castello Sforzesco, the Design Duo Double Feature by FENIX, Design Space AlUla and MCM at Palazzo Cusani.
Not only design, but also fashion: the big fashion companies animated Brera Design Week by choosing the district to give life to installations, exhibitions and performances. Hermès as usual chose La Pelota, Saint Laurent the Chiostri di San Simpliciano, Loewe Palazzo Citterio, Miu Miu the Circolo Filologico, Melissa the Falegnameria Cavalleroni, and Loro Piana the Cortile della Seta.
