Designtech goal
The aim of Designtech is to bring companies that are symbols of Italian and international design excellence closer to innovative startups able to design solutions that can improve and revolutionize the way we live. The name itself, Designtech, expresses the role of synthesis between design and technological innovation, as a cultural mediator between the companies that have made design in recent years a central economic sector for the Italian economy and a new generation of digital entrepreneurs, creative and designers who look to the future from Milan.
Innovative spaces and services
Born on the initiative of Ivan Tallarico, founder and CEO of Hi-Interiors, and a group of entrepreneurs and professionals with complementary experiences in the field of industrial design, automotive, nautical, hospitality, fashion and media, Designtech proposes within the Village Pavilion an offer of spaces and innovation services made available to the community made up of startups, companies and design industry professionals.
"It is an important day, - declares Ivan Tallarico - in which we celebrate the grounding of a project that a little more than a couple of years ago was just a vision. What we have created is a complex creature that brings many souls together. There is the soul of design, but also the technological one. It was actually a necessity, because the only way to innovate the environments in which we live is to strongly integrate the actors of the supply chain: those who design, those who build the envelope that must dialogue with the content and finally the world of industrial design. Milan is the perfect place to compete in order to win such an ambitious challenge: designing new habitats where people can find new comfort also thanks to the technology that supports them, adapting to their life cycle ".
A project in progress
The first co-working space, with an adjoining event space and food experience lounge, inaugurated within the MIND, is the result of the collaboration with Lombardini22 as a design partner and with the developer of the Lendlease area, an international real estate group.
In addition to the co-working space at MIND, other coworking spaces, cofactory spaces and coliving spaces are currently being designed. The second co-fabrication space of about 1,500 square meters, the cofactory under construction, is located halfway between MIND and City Life in the heart of the Certosa District, within a former industrial area.
The technological innovation hub currently sees the participation of 38 industrial partners, among these companies that symbolize Made in Italy, which are also flanked by multinational companies in the sector, and 4 technological partners interested in supporting the creation of the vertical design tech innovation.
A challenge that can be won together
The authorities of the Lombardy Region and the Municipality of Milan participated in the inauguration and highlighted how Designtech is a far-sighted initiative, a new way of conceiving work and socializing. "For how we plan the future of the city of Milan - said the Councilor for Economic Development with responsibility for Design, Alessia Cappello, - we are absolutely at the forefront of this type of project because we want to write a new page of international design, from here, from the world capital of this sector, aware that the challenge is won together: together with those who do research, with start-ups, with companies, with institutions themselves, in a collaboration that is the key to our city and the key to building the future ".
