"Between Space and Time": theme of the 2022 edition of Fuorisalone
For this edition of the Fuorisalone the title "Between Space and Time" was chosen, an invitation to reflect on the changes taking place in today's world, changes necessary to achieve essential sustainability objectives in order to look to the future. "Space and time express two variables useful for evaluating our impact on the planet and planning concrete decisions and actions to plan change." - explained Paolo Casati. “In this scenario, design is a real enabler, capable of supporting the transition towards environmental sustainability”.
Fuorisalone Award, an award to celebrate the best of design
It will be a special edition, full of news, new spaces on the territory and new locations that for the first time open to the design community revealing all their charm. Among the newsof the 2022 edition, the Fuorisalone Award, the prestigious recognition, with the contribution of the Lombardy Region, which will award the best settings and contents presented during the Milan Design Week.
On the one hand, a prize will be awarded by the public for the most particular installations on display in Milan through the digital platform of Fuorisalone.it, on the other hand, a technical committee will assign four special mentions for the interaction categories to the most innovative and meaningful projects. , sustainability, technology, communication.
Two tools at the service of the design community
Another important novelty is Inspire, a new tool that allows you to navigate Fuorisalone.it in a new way, to travel through images to discover the most interesting and innovative projects. All the news from the world of design will be told within a single space, characterized by an essential design and an intuitive layout.
Another important tool at the service of the design community is the new Reserved Area to better organize Milan Design Week, a digital space where you can have everything at your fingertips.
“It is in the DNA of Fuorisalone.it to go in the direction of new solutions to make digital more accessible. This research led to the development of the Fuorisalone Award project, Inspire and the Reserved Area, which represent a new way to navigate content, always putting the user at the center ", explained Cristian Confalonieri.
Fuorisalone 2022: the design districts
Characteristic of the various editions of Fuorisalone is to be able to involve the whole city of Milan, from the most central to the peripheral areas, thanks to exhibitions, events, installations, new products. Here are some previews of the districts participating in the next Milan Design Week.
Brera Design District, the beating heart of the event, will host over 160 events with proposals signed by internationally renowned designers. 11 new openings are also planned, bringing the number of showrooms in the Brera district to 165, as it confirms its role and importance as a reference point for design and architecture, all year round. The theme of this edition is “Designing the present, choosing the future”: it is also the task of design to find solutions today to face the challenges of tomorrow.
The Tortona District has as protagonists Tortona Rocks, BASE, Superstudio and Tortona Design Week and will develop the theme of sustainability, with the aim of anticipating the needs and interpreting the changes underway in society.
Milano Durini Design offers new products and exclusive lifestyle settings to sector operators and design lovers.
The 5VIE Design Week district returns for its 9th edition with the annual event dedicated to cross-disciplinary design practices, collectibles and unique pieces. This year will take place around the common thread of the co-construction of perspectives of meaning and collective visions for the design of a shared future, the matrix of a message of peace and collaboration, under the sign of creativity.
Isola Design District will propose the sixth edition of Isola Design Festival. As part of the theme of this edition "Together As One", Isola welcomes more than 250 international designers and design studios, which are added to the local galleries and artisans, distributed among over 30 locations in one of the liveliest districts of Milan .
To these districts are then added a series of collective and special projects proposed at Milan Design Week in the area such as Alcova, in the Inganni area, in the disused spaces of the military hospital of Baggio, Certosa Initiative, within a post-industrial space of over 10 thousand square meters, Baranzate Ateliers, inside the former Necchi factory, just to name a few.
