Elcam, an innovator in the upholstery industry, has conquered the market in fifty years by investing in research and development, service and logistics. Founded in the 1970s by the three Cazzaniga brothers, it started in the fabric sector and now collaborates with national and international brands.

“My father,” says owner Ernesto Cazzaniga, ”started the business after the war as a door-to-door mattress maker. Hence my foresight in understanding that the market could also expand to pillows and upholstery. In 1975 the move to Macherio, in Brianza, where Elcam was born as a production of semi-finished products for upholstered furniture.”

Over the years, the Cazzaniga brothers took different paths. In 2007, the new Elcam was born: Ernesto Cazzaniga acquired the shares from his brother and was succeeded by his daughter Daniela in administration, his son-in-law Roberto in sales and his son Vittorio, already with the company, in production. 2014 saw the construction of the current headquarters in Lissone, about 10,000 square meters, followed in 2018 by the acquisition of an additional 12,000-square-meter facility in Sovico.

Technological innovations for high-quality products

For many decades, Elcam has played an innovative role in the upholstery industry by creating products in which comfort is a defining element.

“Our premium products,” Cazzaniga continues, ”are of high quality and meet the requirements of comfort and sustainability. Technological innovations are one of the notes that differentiate us. We have dedicated an important item of the budget to equipment because, although we have an artisanal vision, we stand out for our high level of innovation and industrialization. The filling department is one of our flagships; in fact, we are able to process and mix any type of material.”

For semifinished product storage, Elcam has introduced vertical, i.e., height-structured, warehouses, which allow the semifinished product to be recalled digitally. These aspects ensure an extremely efficient and scalable production capacity. “We collaborate with companies, architects and design studios to realize ideas, shaping endless desires. We are attentive to market demands that demand attention to sustainability, recycled and recyclable. We research the most innovative materials to make cushions in infinite variations, for indoor and outdoor furniture. Our product is certified with guarantee of quality and sustainability.”

High-performance materials

Elcam is the exclusivist of some materials with important characteristics. PrimaLoft® BioTM for the furniture industry is a 100% biodegradable and recycled material. Its fibers have been programmed to be more palatable to the microbes that will go to decompose them in its end-of-life, so they will turn them faster into water, CO2, methane, biomass and humus. Thanks to its innovative composition PrimaLoft® BioTM provides excellent performance: lightweight, soft, comfortable and durable, with excellent thermal insulation, it is water-resistant.

Waterproof® fabric is used in outdoor furniture and marine. Products made from this fabric are water- and weather-resistant, long-lasting, and stain-resistant. Waterproof's water repellency has passed with the highest Iso5 index all the spray tests conducted and obtained certification.
