Catas, the most important European laboratory for testing in the wood-furniture sector, opens as usual the year under the banner of training, presenting the program of courses, seminars and all the initiatives organized by Catas Academy. It should be noted that from this year Catas Academy has a new logo.
The first appointment, scheduled for January 10 at the headquarters of San Giovanni al Natisone and usable also with the “webinar“ formula, deals with the very topical theme “Formaldehyde in Germany: the new UBA law is starting“.
In February at the headquarters in Brugnera (Pordenone) will study “Adhesives in the furniture industry: the panorama and trends in the sector“. On this occasion, the book “Adhesives in the Furniture Industry“, produced in collaboration with Federchimica-Avisa, will also be presented.
Also in February, at Catas Brianza in Lissone, there will be a meeting on “The dimensions of office chairs: the revision of the EN 1335-1 standard“, a meeting that will be repeated in March in San Giovanni al Natisone.
In March the topic will be the focus of attention will be “PVC windows and doors: the Ral certification“, in collaboration with Ral Germany, while in April, again at Catas Brianza in Lissone, the theme of “The design of hospital furniture: the new Uni standard of requirements and testing methods“ will be discussed.
“Children's furniture: guide to the assessment of conformity and product safety“ will be the topic on which teachers and technicians of Catas will discuss in May at the headquarters of San Giovanni al Natisone.

Also in May, various initiatives, events and meetings will be held during Xylexpo 2020, the biennial exhibition of technologies and supplies for the furniture and wood industry, of which the laboratory will be a technical-scientific partner, which will take place from 26 to 29 May at the exhibition spaces of Rho Fiera Milano. These include the seminar “Indoor emissions: formaldehyde and Voc“, dedicated to a highly topical issue in the light of the new regulations adopted in various countries.
In June the meeting entitled “Furniture and interiors for retail and commercial spaces: sustainability of materials and mechanical safety“, organized in collaboration with Material ConneXion Italia, is scheduled in San Giovanni al Natisone. Then in September two meetings will be held in San Giovanni al Natisone and Lissone on “Lca-Life Cycle Assessment: new opportunities for the furniture sector“.
“Wood-based panels: mechanical performance and Carb certification“ is the title of the meeting scheduled again in San Giovanni al Natisone in October, while in November, again in both Catas offices, a comparison will be held on “Requirements for furniture surfaces: the new Uni standard on Cpl laminates“.
The year will end in December with a seminar scheduled in San Giovanni al Natisone and a webinar on “Objective Producer Responsibility: the point on legislation“.
