The Salone del mobile di Milano is scheduled to take place from 5 to 10 September. With only a few months to go before the 2021 edition, the top management of Federlegno Arredo Eventi, through the voice of Claudio Luti, confirmed as Chairman of the Salone del Mobile.Milano, is asking the government for certainties.
Following two meetings held on 22 March with the mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala, and the president of the Lombardy Region, Attilio Fontana, Claudio Luti emphasised that the organisers are working assiduously to ensure that the event can take place, reassuring companies and visitors.
However, there are still some fundamental issues to be resolved that require precise answers from the institutions. This is why, after having asked the Mayor and the Governor to provide the necessary support to make Milan, with the Salone in September, the driving force behind the restart, they have also prepared a note for the competent ministers and Fiera Milano asking for clarity on the possibility of restarting the fairs.
The organisers' requests to the government
In order to organise in September “the most beautiful event possible and the widest range of new products and creativity“ it is necessary that in the next DPCM of 6 April is indicated the certain date of restart of the fairs. Not only that, but a definition of the Vaccine Plan is also required, as well as the actual timeframe for reaching a sufficient number of vaccinated people to allow Italy to be considered a safe country to welcome foreign visitors.
It will also be important,“ says Claudio Luti, “to have assurances from the government regarding a health passport or 'digital green pass' that will be relevant in terms of access to the exhibition. Finally, we will have to have guarantees on the timing foreseen by the main carriers for the resumption of international flights with continuity“.
Equally important will be the implementation of an international promotion campaign for the Salone del Mobile as this event can be a vehicle for an economic and social revival not only in Italy.
“Everyone wants to visit the Show for business - concludes President Luti - but also to rediscover the socialising that has been so sorely lacking during these very hard and painful months. In order to achieve all this, it is equally important for companies to be united, to place their trust in the Show, and to continue to believe in the importance of being there all together to give a truly great demonstration of the strength of the system“.
