A certification guarantees the Italian character of the product
On this occasion, Catas, which defined the protocol in 2018, wished to present the three realities with an award in a ceremony that attests to the importance of this standard.
'Among the many certifications that Catas issues,' said Catas Director Franco Bulian, 'Italian origin has a special value and significance. After decades of diatribes and confusion, for the past five years a standard has unequivocally established the criteria that allow a piece of furniture to boast its Italian character, not only in terms of style and aesthetics, but also in terms of quality and durability, values verified by our technicians according to specific test protocols. This is an objective result that undoubtedly adds value to the choice of the three internationally renowned companies, which, having passed the first cycle of certification, have decided to continue to demonstrate their willingness to maintain both the high quality of their products, which comply with the certification requirements, and their focus on the latest regulatory developments in the sector.
The 'Italian furniture origin' certification
The 'Italian furniture origin' certification issued by Catas is among the latest in the product certification sector and is based on a number of fundamental pillars. First of all, the UNI 11674 national standard, which defines process and product requirements, making the 'Italian' origin and quality of furniture products objective and verifiable.
The second pillar is represented by the modalities foreseen for the recognition, based on a strict technical specification managed by Catas that foresees, among other things, the verification on the premises of the applicant companies of the location of the core production processes and the verification in Catas laboratories of the technical performance of the finished product. Only at the end of this process can companies adorn their product with the 'Italian furniture origin' mark issued by Catas.
