Entries are now open for interzum award 2025, the competition organized by interzum for the thirteenth time, with the intention of selecting solutions and materials that are not only innovative, but also sustainable.
The central theme of the next edition of interzum, the leading international trade fair for the furniture subcontracting and interior design industry, will be “Rethinking Resources: Circular and Biobased Solutions.” This theme will also play an important role in the interzum award so much so that it has been included in a special category that will reward sustainable products and concepts.
Sign of recognition for innovative products
Open exclusively to companies exhibiting at interzum 2025, the interzum award will once again be a sign of recognition for innovative products and concepts, a source of inspiration for professionals working in the furniture and interior design industry.
The entry fee is a one-time fee of 990 euros (plus VAT), and each participant may submit more than one application.
An international jury of experts will analyze the applications and select the industry's most interesting innovative solutions in the three usual categories Function & Components, Materials & Nature, Textile & Machinery, and the new Rethinking Resources.
New contest category: Rethinking Resources
The new Rethinking Resources category will reward products and ideas that demonstrate a particularly resource-conscious approach or meet the principles of the circular economy with materials and products that remain in the economic cycle for as long as possible (e.g., through reuse, repair, refurbishment, and recycling), or feature biobased solutions that use materials produced from renewable sources, viable alternatives to petroleum-based products.
“Especially in difficult times like these,” explains Maik Fischer, director of interzum, ”companies and designers in the furniture and interior design industry must consider sustainability fundamental in their choice of materials and production process if they want to be competitive and look to the future. That is why we have decided to put more focus in this edition of the interzum award on sustainable products and ideas. This creates an opportunity for the subcontracting sector to demonstrate to furniture professionals and a wide audience that it is creative and innovative and can take responsibility.”
The jury of interzum award 2025
A jury of international experts will evaluate all competition entries for design quality, innovation potential, and aspects such as sustainability or intelligent integration of digital components. The seven jury members will give a joint verdict on the proposals, award the title of High Product Quality for each category and the Best of the Best award.
The interzum award 2025 jury consists of Masayo Avenue, Luisa Bocchietto, Frederik Lauwaert, Kristina Mayer, Vito Oražem, Sascha Peters, and Martin Stosch.
