Domotex 2022, the leading fair for the carpet and flooring sector, which was to have been held in Hanover from 13 to 16 January, has in fact been cancelled. This was announced in an official statement by Deutsche Messe AG, the fair's organizing body.
"We fought together with the exhibiting companies until the very end to be able to organize the next edition of Domotex and have been in daily communication with the industry for months," said Sonia Wedell-Castellano, Global Director Domotex, Deutsche Messe AG. "Domotex is particularly affected by the impact of the pandemic, as the vast majority of exhibitors and fair attendees are from abroad. However, given the current pandemic situation, international business travel is not expected to resume anytime soon," Wedell-Castellano added.
New date for 2022 under consideration
Just recently, organizers had wanted to set up the Domotex fair in the southern part of the Hanover Fairgrounds in a compact, three-hall format as a Re-start, restart event, offering a chance for the industry to physically meet again after nearly two years of the pandemic. Unfortunately, what was considered a realistic and promising scenario a month ago, and was also well received by the market, has turned out to be no longer feasible in recent days. Now the organizers are looking into the possibility of setting a date for Domotex later in 2022.
