The Board of Directors of Federlegno Arredo Eventi met on 25 February in extraordinary session and, at the end of a long meeting, took a painful but inevitable decision: to postpone the edition of the Salone del Mobile Milano to June, from 16 to 21.
The postponement of the date of the Milan Design Week, an event symbolising Made in Italy and Italian creativity, was determined by the continuing health emergency. The holding of the Salone del Mobile Milano from 21 to 26 April would have greatly affected the foreign presence of exhibitors and visitors and would have compromised the outcome of the event.
The cancellation would have created considerable damage, estimated at around 120 million euros, so it was decided to postpone the event.
Salone del Mobile Milan: the postponement a proof of liability
As stated in the press release “the confirmation of the event - strongly supported by the mayor of Milan Giuseppe Sala - allows companies, called to an important test of responsibility, to present their work already finalized to the international public that awaits the annual appointment with the Salone del Mobile Milano as a point of reference for creativity and design“.
“Milan must go on and the virus of distrust must not spread“, says the mayor Beppe Sala in a video alongside the president of the Salone del Mobile Claudio Luti and the president of FederlegnoArredo Emanuele Orsini. The Mayor also invited everyone to a sense of responsibility, including the institutions since the sector has a strategic value in the national economy.
