The Rehau Edgeband Symposium 2023 was held on 15 June for the first time in Italy, in Pesaro at Biesse, the Italian group specialising in woodworking solutions.
The success of the 32nd edition held in March in Schopfloch was replicated in Pesaro. The event was attended by around 80 professionals from the furniture industry, including the main Italian customers of the two international players Rehau and Biesse, opening up new perspectives for the future of the sector.
An appointment of great interest
Focusing on product novelties, technological innovations, and the latest developments in the field of edgebanding, the first Italian edition of Rehau's tried-and-tested symposium has reconfirmed itself as an event of great interest with an international scope.
Andrea Bucciarelli, Sales Director of Rehau Interior Solutions Italy, said that 'the Edgeband Symposium has become a regular appointment for German edgebanding professionals: it is a time when participants have the opportunity to exchange ideas and receive first-hand information. With the event in Italy, we were able to offer this to an international audience as well.
The event involved professionals from Sweden, Denmark and other European countries in addition to the Italian industry.
The perfect component, central theme for the industry
The motto of the Italian edition of the Edgeband Symposium was, as in March, 'The perfect component', a central theme for the industry. In an engaging alternation of theory and practice, the participants reviewed the latest trends and innovations in terms of design, sustainability, digitisation and quality results in the edgebanding of furniture components. The packed programme also touched on the theme of efficiency: among the various innovations, Biesse presented the HFS Hydrogen Force System, the new technology for perfect, seamless edgebanding, in which the functional laser layer of the edge is activated through a hydrogen flame.
This technique offers numerous advantages, including optimised processing and maintenance times and energy savings of up to 70 per cent compared to other processes. In combination with the innovative Raukantex pigment edge, both visual and tactile perfection also extends to the milling radius.
The beginning of the development of a format
The professionals who attended the event were also able to experience the perfect component first-hand, witnessing the edgebanding process live in Biesse's technology laboratories. Pierluigi Tacchi, Sales Director Edgebanding at Biesse, pointed out that 'thanks to our close collaboration with Rehau, we were able to organise a particularly successful symposium, providing our guests from all over the world with in-depth knowledge of edgebanding solutions and real added value. The positive feedback we received shows us that this was the right step to take and that there is a great demand for specialised events of this kind.
The success of the first international edgebanding symposium is only the beginning of the development of a format that, in the near future, will see Rehau involved in organising events both in Germany and abroad.
