Interzum Trend Stage: concrete answers to current challenges
However, trends in the industry are not only the focus of the presentations by the approximately 1,500 exhibitors from 60 countries, but will also be developed in the rich programme of the interzum Trend Stage. Curated by trend expert Katrin de Louw, owner of TRENDFILTER®, the interzum Trend Stage will be a central meeting point for trade visitors to the fair and shed light on the most important developments and current topics for the industry.
"The main topics are, of course, sustainability, in particular the circular economy and innovative materials, as well as digitisation," explains Katrin de Louw. "Renowned experts in these fields have been invited to share their knowledge with interzum visitors.
The opportunities of the circular economy
The leitmotif of interzum 2023 is 'Neo-ecology', which will focus attention on precisely these issues in order to pursue a dialogue with companies in the subcontracting sector that will produce new solutions with an increasingly sustainable perspective.
The interzum Trend Stage will explore how societal trends are influencing our habits or how various lifestyles are having an impact on interior design.
Some meetings will specifically address the topics of the circular economy and how circular design represents an opportunity not only for more sustainable product design, but also for new business models.
Digital tools for the furniture industry
Digital transformation will also play an important role and will be the focus of another area of interest in the interzum Trend Stage programme. Innovative technologies are opening up new possibilities for the design and production of furniture components: thanks to the use of 3D technology, for example, it is possible to produce high-quality surfaces without the use of chemical materials, or, with augmented reality, furniture can be positioned three-dimensionally in space without a real location.
"We made the programme as broad as possible precisely to ensure that there were interesting topics for everyone," says curator Katrin de Louw. Visitors will be able to discover the most important trend topics for the industry, exchange new ideas and make new contacts'.
At the end of interzum it will also be possible to review the entire meeting programme on the digital platform interzum @home, thus further enriching your visit to the fair.

Trend Forum
The Interzum Trend Stage programme is closely linked to the Trend Forums where innovative solutions are presented for the three established areas of the fair: 'Materials & Nature', 'Function & Components' and 'Textile & Machinery'.
The Trend Forum linked to 'Materials & Nature', for example, presents innovative materials that may change the production of furniture and interior design in the coming years.
The Trend Forum of 'Textile & Machinery' addresses the very topical issue of recycling and the circular economy in mattress production.
The Trend Forum 'Function & Components' will showcase new solutions by challenging established practices. In particular, discussions will focus on how sustainable production is possible.
