Common thread: 'Neo-Ecology
Interzum is the ideal exhibition to discover the trends and solutions for designing the living spaces of the future. Themes such as respect for the environment, sustainability, upcycling and the growing importance of living will therefore play an important role. The common thread of interzum will be "Neo-ecology" which will focus attention precisely on these issues to carry on a dialogue with companies in the subcontracting sector that produces new solutions from an increasingly sustainable perspective.
"Interzum is a world stage" underlined Maik Fischer, director of interzum, during the press conference to present the fair. "And it is important that the event is also able to give voice to new trends, in particular those linked to sustainability, the conservation and efficiency of resources, and the circular economy".
Thematic exhibitions - the interzum Trend Forums - and special events will also show how the subcontracting industry is responding creatively and flexibly to the challenges of our time. With the Product Stage and the interzum Trend Stage, interzum offers further opportunities for exhibitor and product presentations as well as for addressing market and design topics of the future.
A new layout for the pavilions
From a thematic point of view, interzum will once again be divided into three consolidated areas: Function & Components, Materials & Nature and Textile & Machinery. With the aim of making visiting the fair easier and more efficient, however, a new arrangement of the pavilions has been designed. “We have reorganized the various sectors in a more rational way, so that visitors need less time to go from one pavilion to another. Furthermore, for the first time, the new Hall 1 will also host the Materials & Nature area, and many large companies, including some that were previously present in Hall 6", said Maik Fischer with satisfaction.
Also this year interzum continues the hybrid approach to the event inaugurated in 2021, through interzum @home. A live digital event will therefore be added to the physical presence in Cologne, which will give further added value to the event.
The Italian presence was excellent: a fair within a fair
The Italian presence at interzum confirms how eagerly the event is expected by the sector: with 272 exhibitors it even surpasses German companies, occupying an area of approximately 22,800 m2.
Even the Italian collective, organized by Koelnmesse Italia and divided into 4 pavilions, currently hosts 31 companies, for a total area of 700 square meters.
“Italian companies are responding very well to this edition of interzum, the first in physical presence after the pandemic.” explains Thomas Rosolia, CEO of Koelnmesse Italia. “With the participation data still not definitive, we can already state that the 2023 edition of interzum will also be a very positive edition for Italian companies, both for the larger and more established ones, and for the small and medium-sized ones exhibiting at interzum for the first time. interzum is therefore confirmed as the most important international fair for Italy: there are no other fairs in the world that host 22,800m2 entirely occupied by Italian companies. Another interesting novelty for Koelnmesse Italia is the presence at interzum 2023 of 15 companies from the Balkan countries, on 1,000 m2, and 7 Swiss companies, for a total of over 700 m2. In fact, since 2022, Koelnmesse Italia has also been following the Balkans, Switzerland and Malta, and the debut seems very promising for these areas as well".
