Everything is now ready for the 2018 edition of Xylexpo, the international biennial of technologies and supplies for the wood and furniture industry to be held at FieraMilano-Rho from Tuesday 8 to Saturday 12 May 2018.
The event will celebrate its 50th anniversary with the presence of 426 exhibitors, among them 309 Italians and 117 foreigners on a surface that will reach the 35 thousand square meters of exhibition space, a marked increase compared to 29.189 of the last edition of the biennial.
All the players in the sector of technologies and supplies for the wood and furniture industry will be present, both large international groups capable of creating complete systems for large furniture manufacturers and those who produce equally sophisticated technologies to produce machineries for market niche.
After all, the technological offer is experiencing a season of great transformation: we are thinking about the issues related to the X.0 industry rather than the dynamics connected to the new “IoT“ reality, visions and new production procedures that will find wide space at Xylexpo. In fact, for some years the Milanese biennial has chosen to represent in-depth the “high technologies“ for second processing, becoming the reference fair for those sectors in which users' needs impose rapid changes in production systems.
Over 18 thousand unique visitors are expected at Xylexpo, for over 44 thousand total admissions; admission to the fair is free and the pre-registration procedure, easily accessible from the xylexpo.com website, will make access to the event easier.
A rich calendar of events
The opening of a fourth pavilion allowed the organizers to resume the traditional Xylexpo Arena, inaugurated in 2010, which sees a rich calendar of events. Organized in collaboration with the Department of Chemistry, Materials and Chemical Engineering “Giulio Natta“ of the Politecnico di Milano and Catas, the most important European laboratory for the wood-furnishing industry, a series of meetings will be dedicated to the sustainability of adhesives and finishes and will see the presence of about fifteen speakers representing well-known companies and multinationals, including Panguaneta, Marlegno, Agroils, Arsonsisi, Akzo Nobel, Ica, Merck Group, Lechler Group, Valcucine.
The themes of the “Industry X.0“ will be at the center of the four meetings curated by Accenture, each of which entrusted to established specialists of the different “strands“ of the industrial revolution underway, and in the same number of insights signed by Iq Consulting, spin off of the University of the Studies of Brescia during which we will talk about digital technologies, 3D printing, project culture and supply management.
Thursday and Friday mornings two meetings dedicated to doors and windows makers and, more generally, to carpentry will be held with the participation of Stefano Frignani of Kosmosoft, which will talk about “Falegnameria 4.0“.
Conlegno/FederlegnoArredo will tackle at Xylexpo Arena the current issue of due diligence in the wood-paper sector, while Csil-Centro Studi industria leggera will also present its very interesting “World Furniture Outlook“ report, edition 2018, to Xylexpo.
Also this year the XIA-Xylexpo Innovation Awards will take place, the innovation prize structured in four categories: processing of the solid, panel, tools and finishing. A jury made up of six professors or university teachers will select the solutions deemed most “revolutionary“ and the prizes will be presented on May 9th during the “La notte di Xylexpo”.
