Home Connectivity Alliance (HCA): Ensuring Interoperability Across Brands
This new global organization aims to give consumers more options to customize their smart home ecosystem, while improving data protection and device security. Through the Home Connectivity Alliance, consumers will be able to use their TV, washing machine, oven and other appliances across multiple brands, platforms and apps.
Increasingly connected products
Members of the Home Connectivity Alliance will have the opportunity to innovate, share expertise among peers and become leaders in expanding the connected home ecosystem.
In fact, Ola Nilsson, Electrolux Group CXO, said, "Electrolux is focused on sustainable innovation of the consumer experience to contribute to a better lifestyle. The number of connected products continues to grow in homes around the world, and as a result, the need for interoperability across brands to enable great consumer experiences is increasing. This is why we are happy to be part of HCA."
Andrea Corda, CTO of Electrolux, who will represent the Swedish Group in HCA as Board Director, added: "Interoperability is a necessity to increase usability and create value for consumers. It's like defining protocols, or using a browser to access any website on the Internet. We'll be able to use a device, whether it's the phone or the TV, to run anything from an air purifier to a furnace. Within that interoperability, we will create another layer to show what Electrolux, or AEG, or Frigidaire can do for the consumer."
