Technological Laboratory: fundamental fulcrum of Orsa foam

In the Technological Laboratory of Orsa foam we carry out research and experimentation in order to study products able to guarantee maximum safety, reliability and the highest quality level. New formulations are developed, the physical-mechanical characteristics and fire behaviour of all the materials produced are verified to meet the requirements of national and international standards and tests on materials are organised using methods agreed directly with customers.
It is precisely in the Technological Laboratory that all the important ideas for the entire application market of flexible expanded polyurethanes were born. This is the case of the Viscoelastici family, or of the I-Foam project, the “intelligent polyurethane“, or of Waterlily, Breeze and Gaia, types mainly addressed to the bedding and upholstery sector for sofas and furniture that perfectly meet the demands of comfort and well-being.

i-fo@m®, the intelligent polyurethane

With i-fo@m®, polyurethane foam becomes intelligent; through microencapsulation particular substances or active ingredients can be introduced. The world of polyurethane can thus count on a new technology capable of offering the ideal comfort and protection in any situation of daily life, from moments of rest and relaxation to leisure time, from work to sport. Orsa foam offers two solutions: i-fo@m Thermo, polyurethane foam able to thermoregulate the areas in contact with the body creating an ideal microclimate, and i-fo@m Silver, a polyurethane foam that exploits the bactericidal action of silver.

Waterlily™ and Waterlily Viscoelastic™ high elasticity for comfortable padding.

Waterlily™, whose production and brand Orsa foam is the exclusive licensee for Italy, is a technologically advanced polyurethane, designed to offer the highest performance in the bedding and furniture sectors. Its high elasticity makes Waterlily an extremely comfortable padding material. Not only that, Waterlily represents the most advanced development in the field of environmental respect: it has been designed to be recycled both mechanically and chemically and, since it does not contain polluting substances, it is not harmful to the environment. In addition to Waterlily there is Waterlily viscoelastic™ which reduces pressure points to a minimum and distributes the weight of the body over the entire surface taking the shape of the person lying down.

Gaia®, nature and technology

Equally attentive to the environment is Gaia®, a sure point of reference in the mattress market. A name with ancient origins and illustrious paternity, the one that the English scholar James Lovelock chose towards the end of the '60s to define his interpretation of the Earth as a living, breathing and evolving system: Gaia, the goddess of the Earth in Greek mythology. Gaia® is a foam made with the use of water and raw materials derived from renewable sources. It is an innovative product, the only one that combines breathability, comfort, durability and elasticity with soy-based raw materials.

Recognized and appreciated for its exceptional quality of breathability, Breeze polyurethane foam, thanks to its open cellular conformation, guarantees the free passage of air and the fast dispersion of moisture and heat giving the maximum feeling of well-being and the most complete rest.
The Research & Development Laboratory of Orsa foam has recently added to the Viscoelastic 40 and 50 kg/m³ and to the HR 32 and 50 kg/m³, already present in the Breeze family, three new hyper-soft products, hence their name HS or High Softness. Three new densities designed for the world of rest and relaxation.
