Fantoni of Osoppo, in the province of Udine, has obtained the first Italian brand of furniture for the collection of office desks “Woods“ according to the new product certification protocol developed by Catas and Cosmob.
The company has passed all the inspections and checks provided for both the production process and the product, thus becoming the first “testimonial“ of the Italian brand of furniture, a brand that will become, at an international level, an important tool to recognize and guarantee Italian quality, certified by the two most important national laboratories active in the wood-furniture industry.
Paolo Fantoni, president of Fantoni spa, said: “Today we are opening a path that, we are sure, will soon be beaten by many others. For the “Woods“ collection, as for all our products, we carry out in Italy all the workings on semi-finished products and on the products themselves, constantly addressing external testing laboratories to test the safety and quality of the result of our work. The certification of Italian origin of furniture we have achieved represents an important goal for us, the last piece of a mosaic that testifies every day our desire to be an Italian company attentive to the quality and safety of the consumer “.
With this prestigious product certification, Catas and Cosmob begin an important journey based on the requirements of the Italian standard UNI 11674 “Furniture - Requirements for the determination of the Italian origin of furniture“. The two institutes decided to invest skills and resources in order to define a protocol by which to certify with specific requirements the quality of the “made in Italy“ product.
First and foremost requirements of process, to identify on the Italian soil the places where the significant phases of the production cycle took place, and product requirements, because furniture and furnishings manufactured on the national territory can guarantee some minimum requirements mainly related to safety for end users.
Double checks have also been carried out, as both institutions participate in the issue of certification. The company that intends to achieve the brand decides first of all with which institute to operate and it is the latter that carries out periodic inspections, inventory sampling and laboratory tests. All the findings of the work done are subsequently shared with the second institute and the final resolution on the granting of certification is, therefore, the result of the work of both. An extremely rigorous procedure that further strengthens the principles that must underpin this brand.
“Today, finally, we have a brand recognized all over the world to protect both the origin of production and compliance with the product safety requirements set by current European standards,“ said Andrea Giavon, director of Catas, and Alessio Gnaccarini, Director of Cosmob.
