"All Wood but the Tree" is the title of the project at the Salone del Mobile 2024, realised by CRA-Carlo Ratti Associati and Italo Rota (the architect's last work before his untimely death), for the Saviola Group to visually narrate the infinite regenerative possibilities of the Ecological Panel®. After the success of "Wood you Believe?", an installation realised last year, again in collaboration with the CRA-Carlo Ratti Associati and Italo Rota studios, this year the Pannello Ecologico® becomes a structural element used to build the entire stand, without the need to add other materials, thus demonstrating the versatility of the product, the technologies adopted for its realisation and the quality of Made in Italy design.
A design classic reinterpreted in a green key
The absolute protagonist of Saviola production as regenerated wood, since the 1990s, without cutting down trees, the Ecological Panel® also becomes the protagonist of the installation inspired by an iconic form of international design: the "Artichoke" lamp created by Paul Jenningsen for Louis Poulsen.
Every single 'petal' on the stand is made from Ecological Panel® and contributes to a shape based on the interlocking system. More than 100 double-sided panels, 54 horizontal to recall the shape of petals and another 60 rectangles shaping the entire stand, display the rich variety of decors and finishes in the Saviola catalogue. The bifacial 'petals' have a solid colour finish on the outside, while on the inside they have a refined finish inspired by metals, stones and woods.
Wood is back in the circular chain
The Saviola Group's stand is proof that you can design with wood without cutting down any trees. For the construction of the stand, 39 cubic metres of regenerated wood were used, corresponding to 89 trees that were not cut down. At the end of the exhibition, as for every event in which the Saviola Group participates, the wood will return to the circular chain to be recovered and give life to new products and contribute to the environmental results that have always been part of the Saviola production cycle.
