Abet Laminati previewed at Sicam 2023 the new Mare Nostrum collection, designed by Matteo Ragni. It is made up of six digitally printed patterns (Fetch, Islands, Octopus, Net, Papersail, Shark), each of which comes in four colours that evoke the natural tones of the sea and land.
As Matteo Ragni himself explains, Mare Nostrum "is a collection of decors celebrating the sea, a symbol of vitality and biodiversity, an element that laps the coasts of all continents and keeps them united and connected. The sea, our sea, of all and for all, where thousands of marine species find a home in an ecosystem often challenged by human actions. The decorations formally take their cue from fish and wave motion to recreate more abstract and geometric patterns. An undercurrent message to remind us to take care of our sea and our unique planet earth".
24 decors with a sustainable core
The new Mare Nostrum collection, with its 24 decors, fits in perfectly with the Re-Abet project, presented at Interzum 2023, developed by the company and demonstrating its commitment to reducing environmental impacts. In fact, the collection's decors feature a core made of Re-Abet, a product consisting of 100% recycled kraft paper.
At the Sicam 2023 stand, the new patterns of the Mare Nostrum collection were interspersed with Re-Abet raw panels, precisely to give visitors the opportunity to get to know and touch the nature of this special solution.
Re-Abet and sustainability
Generally we talk about the more technical aspects of laminates, such as the ease of installation and the material's resistance, but lately attention is also turning to another important element, that of product sustainability.
Abet's constant commitment to the research and development of materials, which can go beyond traditional ones, translates into the production of laminates that have always maintained their characteristics intact over time, contributing to the creation of durable, quality products.
As far as sustainability is concerned, Abet Laminati has implemented a series of behaviours and processes to reduce environmental impacts, and has drawn up a catalogue called 'Abet GoGreen', which illustrates the company's vision, results and future objectives. It is precisely from this philosophy that Abet has come to produce Re-Abet, laminates made from 100% recycled kraft paper.
The Abet Laminati stand at Sicam 2023
Once again this year, Giulio Iacchetti and Matteo Ragni, the company's design curator, designed an exhibition space that showcased all the new products. An open stand, in which Abet's 'A' features were present: one composed of more than 400 sample tiles from the Colours Collection and the other composed of samples from the Metalli collection.
There were also three monolithic structures, two counters and a bench, made respectively with the new decors of the Metalli collection and in MEG H, a laminate created for outdoor solutions.
A prominent place within the exhibition space was occupied by the meeting room, bordered by large laminate panels and 'best-selling' decors selected from the Colours, Metalli, Rocks, Legni and Polaris Contemporary collections. Finally, on the back wall, the new Mare Nostrum collection stood out.
