Nature explores the beauty of wood and its forms carried out by the Alpi this year. The new collections of wooden surfaces are born from a harmonious comparison with nature, explore the natural environment, going beyond the identity of wood, to be able to broaden their aesthetic vision and propose new conceptual dimensions.
The natural element was investigated in the new collaboration with the Italian-Danish architects GamFratesi studio who drew their inspiration from ukiyo-e, an artistic Japanese woodblock, to reproduce an instant of nature in the new Rain and Cloudy woods.
The new Cloudy wood
As a new feature Alpi 2018, Cloudy wood was presented. Fascinated by the beauty of the clouds, their shapes, their nuances, the GamFratesi have traced the design for the new Cloudy wood, revealing the plots of these elements transformed into graphic signs on a black canvas. The light and delicate pattern of Cloudy wood is characterized by the contrast of those black background with the intervals of ivory lines that recall the Japanese works belonging to the aesthetics of the floating world.
Also this year the company's art director, Piero Lissoni, proposed his personal interpretation of the identity of the wood, looking for the different structural variations of this material, to create new aesthetic contents thanks to the ability of Alpi to offer a product that allows great design freedom.
