The opening event of the Design You(r) Inside Contest saw the attentive, interested and inspired participation of 60 inventive students of the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera. The students of the Product Design course, led by the teacher and designer Roberto Semprini, visited the Samet Showroom of Grassobbio (BG) touching with their hands the various products of the company fitted on the furniture of the best design brands and focusing on systems of drawers. The Director of Samet Italia Stefano Minelli talked about how he came up with the idea of launching a design contest for the young students of the Academy, highlighting that the real advantage of Samet and the distinctive feature of the group is a strong desire to create and add value. The company, now the fifth group worldwide in the sector of functional furniture industry, is happy to give a personal contribution to the whole sector - traditionally focused almost exclusively on functionality and mechanics - being inspired by shapes and designs. To follow, the intervention of the designer Roberto Semprini, coordinator and soul of the Contest, which has given its students a few thoughts on the topic of the “poetry of drawer“, giving examples of philosophers, writers and artists of the past and contemporary ones, who have transformed the drawer into a work of art and an endless source of inspiration, from Salvador Dalì to Shiro Kuramata. Yet the drawer, which lends itself to metaphorize deep, hidden, dynamic worlds, lurks a danger: the obsession with classifying. For this reason, a warning and together a final wish addressed to all the participants was to open their minds to create in total freedom without limits nor building barriers. At the end of the meeting, the marketing manager of the Samet Group, Pinar Uçkan, has unveiled to the students the philosophy of the group, the constant investment in Research&Development, the range of products that Samet exports to one hundred countries in the world and has presented the Smart Flow more closely: the new lightweight and minimalist drawer which Samet will bring to the market and on which the young students have to develop and create their own personal “poetry of drawer“.
