“Take furniture to the next level“: with this slogan, Hettich and Rehau are launching a new challenge to young designers from around the world for innovative design of the furniture of the future. Now in its tenth year, with a total of 6,700 participants from over 60 countries, the competition biennial International Design Award 2015 is going to reward students of design, architecture, interior design, art and technology of wood that will best solve the current requests from the furniture industry, thanks to its technical and design skills. The participants, who may enroll directly on the site www.internationaldesignaward.com by 1 March 2015, are encouraged to think outside the box and free the imagination to design solutions for kitchens, offices, living rooms and bedrooms of tomorrow. An independent international jury, consisting of renowned experts in design, will select three projects able to resolve the conflict in the future between home and work and recognize the three talented winners will receive a prize of € 2,000 each and a trip to Germany. Not only that, the same organizing companies will reward the best solution that takes into account both the range of Hettich products (hardware) and that of the polymer specialist Rehau, with the opportunity to take part in a workshop on the design with the employees of both important companies. The 2015 edition will also see the active participation of the “public“ through the opportunity to express their preference on solutions in the race and through an immersive online game.
