The edges for furniture are mainly used in combination with the color, decoration and finish of the panel that they need to finish. However, they can also be used as an aesthetic element to characterize a piece of furniture.
An element can be highlighted by combining a wood decoration border with a plain colored surface or vice versa; the detachment of chromatic continuity helps to lighten the appearance of the piece of furniture and to give it character.
On the other hand, those who prefer less marked contrasts can try to combine the monochrome patterned decorations, such as the high-gloss ABS edges Esprit black, Linen or Serpentin Blanc, with white, gray or black high-gloss surfaces. This gives the piece of furniture a personal touch.
The aluminum edges are versatile and fit well with both solid color panels and decorative wood. In kitchen furniture they form a refined complement to the metal elements of built-in appliances, sinks or taps. Their peculiar resistance to impact and abrasion makes them ideal edges for furniture destined to last over time. For the covering of the plinths, as an alternative to the use of a matching color, a high ABS edge with real aluminum film can be used.
Another solution for designers are the 3D acrylic edges that give a three-dimensional effect, thanks to the printed decoration on the back that shines through the upper acrylic layer. By applying a 1 mm 3D acrylic edge to a panel of a different color, even with a normal edge bander, an almost invisible joint is also obtained.
And finally there are special 3D acrylic edges, such as the high-gloss white-stainless steel LED Stripe or the high-gloss white-black LED Lines, which can be backlit by LED strips. Just make a milling for the LED housing in the part of the panel behind the edge and then proceed with the normal application of the edge (just being careful not to coat the central part of it with glue). When the LED is activated, the light penetrates through the transparent areas of the edge giving the furniture a suggestive atmosphere.
