Last 12nd September, the President of Federlegno Arredo Emanuele Orsini met Venetian entrepreneurs in Treviso, on the occasion of the sixth stage of the tour on the national territory to take stock of the situation of the local wood-furniture sector. There are more than 100 entrepreneurs at the important meeting. Veneto is the second Italian region for sales (6.7 billion euros) and the first for employees. With a total of 3.2 billion euros exported from the sector in almost 180 countries of the world, Veneto is the second Italian region by value of exports.
“The wonderful region of Veneto and land of hardworking men capable of conquering the world with a keen business sense and a business soul always ready to return to the surface. From this Union between love for the land and “want to do“ was born a unique mix capable of transforming Veneto into an industrial and services sector among the most dynamic in Italy, “said Emanuele Orsini.
“The important numbers of Veneto – continued Orsini – confirm the need for the Government to implement economic and industrial policies enabling the territories to give their best, from North to South, guaranteeing to the Country the chance to compete equally in markets around the world. To assist in this process, which is essential for the future of Italy, FederlegnoArredo will strengthen its presence in the territory - by encouraging dialogue, networking and business - and intensify relations with local and national institutions in order to create conditions conducive to the growth of our companies.
The meeting represents the first stage of a process that will see FederlegnoArredo getting closer and attentive to the problems of veneto region by constantly listening to entrepreneurs members and dialogue with institutional partners, among them especially Confindustria Veneto that has supported the initiative.
“The economic and cyclical data confirm the centrality of Veneto in the wood-furniture chain and gives us a portrait of a strategic territory, permanently to the earliest places nationally” said Matteo Zoppas, President of Confindustria Veneto. “Confirming the importance of the sector, together with FederlegnoArredo we started with the Veneto region a location to open a discussion table with the aim to support and develop this potential, of which there is not always full perception.“
“Confindustria Veneto is working for the establishment of a common and shared document of policies aimed to the development of the sector, as well as to enable appropriate lines of financing with funds for innovation and, lastly, to the invention of occupational profiles that provide training to companies with new skills, “said Zoppas. “In Italy, where there are widely recognized excellence in production, design, incremental innovation and where the export component for manufacturing is crucial, the wood-furniture chain can become the laboratory (extendable to other sectors) in which develop innovative models to enter to new markets “.
Legnoarredo in Veneto
Veneto Italian region confirms itself as the first Italian region in Forniture for employees (49,364 units) and sales (6.5 billion euros) with a production equal to 25% of the national total. The entire chain is well represented with about 8,000 businesses divided as follows: 49% furniture 45% wood and 6% lighting.
With a total of 3.2 billion euros exported in almost 180 countries of the world, Veneto is the second Italian region by value of exports. Top destinations abroad are France (with a share of 28% of the total Italian exports), Germany (35%), United Kingdom (30%) and United States (33%). Treviso is the most representative province of the sector, followed by Vicenza. Venice is the second province in lighting, thanks to glass processing. From a survey carried out among the members FederlegnoArredo concerning occupational requirements in the wood-furniture-lighting sectors, it turned out that 79% of businesses operating in veneto region intends to hire new staff in the next 2 years, mainly to increase staff numbers currently present in the company. Other interesting fact is the witness of the change of the needs of Enterprise: in the production department the research focuses on raising new incremental resources specialized and in the substitution of those less qualified; you need new designers and makers of the Engineering Department to develop innovation; demand for commercial resources especially for foreign countries; reinforce the planning and control, seeking new staff that it can carry out this task.
