Green Design Days is another sustainability project promoted by FederlegnoArredo's Assarredo with the aim of promoting an innovative, circular and responsible design model.
The initiative was presented at the Piccolo Teatro Grassi in Milan during Assarredo's annual meeting, preceded by the Green Design Days Warm up 2024.
The Green Design Days Warm Up talk
The Green Design Days Warm Up talk panel featured prominent guests, each bringing innovative contributions ranging from research to corporate experience to the use of new technologies.
Michelangelo Giombini (Head of Product Development & CEO, Manifattura Tabacchi) spoke about the role of cultural tools, spaces and companies in communicating with the public; Mattia Di Carlo (Circular Designer, 3XN/GXN) presented the example of a company dedicated to research and innovation in promoting sustainability in architecture and design; Federico Brugnoli (CEO, SPIN360) presented the importance of performance measurement and analysis; Alice Pedretti (Sustainability Director, Havas Pr) shared her experience of sustainability in communications; and finally, Matteo Ward (activist, CEO and co-founder, Wråd) shared his experience of recycling and circularity in the textile system.
Combining innovation and attention to ESG issues
Green Design Days will also be developed in 2025 in San Servolo, an island in the Venice lagoon, with an event aimed at companies, professionals and stakeholders, a kind of platform of dissemination and inspiration to promote the excellence of Italian design, able to combine innovation and attention to ESG issues.
In fact, Maria Porro, president of Assarredo, emphasized the importance of creating public moments like the one at Piccolo Teatro to share the association's work and progress in the sector. "We want to create spaces for discussion and confrontation that not only highlight the progress made in adopting responsible practices, but also open up new perspectives." He concluded by emphasizing that "sustainability is a priority in the long-term strategies of our companies, which not only make production sustainable, but also rethink responsibly the design and links with the entire supply chain. It is no longer enough to use recycled or certified materials: we need to rethink the entire production cycle. With the National Furniture System Consortium, recently promoted by FederlegnoArredo, together with the member furniture companies, we can accelerate our path towards sustainability, not only by managing waste, but also by activating a reuse system that prolongs the life of products and increases their value".
